It’s that time of the year again. It’s the festival that belongs to the common religion of all the Indians. Yes, you guessed it right, the religion is Cricket, and the festival which is being talked about is IPL (Indian Premier League).

On March 23’ 2019, the battle lines will be drawn, with various teams with their supporters would gear up for the glory of the IPL title. The 8 teams would fight on the 22-yard pitch, to showcase their talent, clubbed up with their energy and focus to excel in the sport.

Amid, all the excitement and fans cheering, this time, there’s a change in a rather extravagant opening ceremony.

The Committee of Administrators (CoA) running Indian cricket on Friday decided not to organize a regular IPL opening ceremony for the year 2019 as the entire budget for the event will be donated to the families of Pulwama attack martyrs, Vinod Rai, the head of the administration said. We all stand with our martyrs at this time of grief and shall walk with them, shoulder to shoulder.

This season, the first blood would be drawn between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad at M.A Chidambaram Chepauk stadium, Chennai. For full fixtures, you can visit here. The curtains would fall on 12th May 2019, at our very own, Mecca of Indian cricket i.e. Wankhede stadium, Mumbai.

IPL tournament has always been exciting since it has introduced many new young players, who have made their entry into the Indian Cricket team through their spectacular performances. The sport also had its fair share of controversies, with Lalit Modi, the chief engineer of the game, being accounted for Malpractices in the inaugural edition of IPL.

The controversies not only involved players like Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth, or Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, but it also took its toll on the owners like Shah Rukh Khan (owner of KKR), which resulted in him getting banned at Wankhede stadium, and also Preity Zinta (owner of Kings XI Punjab) accusing the other owner Mr.Ness Wadia of physical assault during the match.
