It is a universally understood fact that running is good for us. Studies continue to prove that hitting the streets is a definite cue to good health. The following infographic by the Greatist details out how Americans run, and why is it one of America’s most popular sports with 26.5 million people running at least 50 days in a year. Running is good for us in several ways – it improves our bone strength, keeps in check weight disorders and cholestrol issues, improves metabolism among many other problems. According to popular site Running World, running helps us live longer – a review of 22 studies found that people working out 2.5 hours a week are 19 percent less likely to die prematurely than those who don’t . A separate study found that active people have a 50 percent lower risk of premature death.
